Prevention of fungal infections in patients with malignancy who are predisposed to such infections as a result of cytotoxic chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Dermatomycosis, including tinea pedis, tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea versicolor, tinea unguium (onychomycosis), and dermal Candida infections. Deep endemic mycoses in immunocompetent patients, coccidioidomycosis, paracoccidioidomycosis, sporotrichosis and histoplasmosis.
The daily dose of amoxicillin is one tablet taken by mouth, at approximately four-hour intervals for four hours in the morning and one-half in the evening. The dose may be increased to two tablets by taking one tablet two hours later. The duration of treatment is 2 years. The maximum daily dose is one tablet (1 mg) taken every 4 hours.
